friday - BLUE

This was entitled faces blue and was a demonstration of how the viewer brings his or her own experiences into reading a story or viewing a piece of artwork. What do you think this woman is saying to you? I’d love to see comments on this one.

I love these, Kenn.Sorry, you probably wanted something a bit deeper. Your style reminds me a bit of Adrian Tomine, but much warmer.

This is a fine series, and I am appreciating it even more since I was looking at a book yesterday about illustrating faces. It had an amazing amount of detail about how the muscles work under the skin to affect all the different parts of the face. You have really conveyed such a wide range of emotions here…it makes me want to know the story she was listening to! It looks like the storyteller left here with some deep things to think about!

Hey Kenn,
I love to read so I decided that the sister was reading a story. It allows you to lose yourself in the story as your imagination creates the visual. She’s a little solemn as she begins, not quite knowing what to expect. Then she breaks into deep laughter…wait, she listens for her husbands breathing to make sure that she hadn’t awakened him. Nope sound asleep. She then peers at the pages rereading a passage to make sure that she understands what the author is conveying. She gasps when she realizes where the storyline in going, saying to herself “no they didn’t.” Then she’s just kind of like “whateva” they can’t be serious….until she suddenly realizes they are. Finally she just kind of chuckles to herself, as she and the author share the characters’ secret. In the end she contemplates sharing her new found knowledge, but knows only a true reader can appreciate the twist and turns of a good book.

Good work babe, many blessings on all your endeavors.

she is being photographed by you to be used in your blog. At first she is trying to look serious, thoughtful, happy than she starts to feel self conscious, she starts laughing and mugging for you. I think she might have a crush on you!

Okay Kenn I think your girl is in a photo booth like the ones you see at the mall so I read the pictures from top to bottom. In the first couple of frames she is trying to read the directions on how to start the machine. In the third shot she was caught off guard as the camera started flashing out of nowhere. By the fifth shot she’s having fun with it, letting loose. In the six and seventh shots she was interruppted by someone outside the booth who was inquiring as to how long she was gonna be. The eigth shot with her tongue sticking out is for the person who interrupted her. Then her frames are done and she’s out.

Wow. Love it. Perfect if she was a jazz singer on the Blue Note label.

She isn’t reading a story, she’s living it. Her face reflects the ups and downs of life. The pleasure of a new experience, pride in an accomplishment, playfulness with friends at dinner, then the pain, joy and confusion of love, the song of life.

You have captured it all my friend!
